High Cross Quarter - What Do Wiccans Believe?Traditions vary from coven to coven...First let us say that the traditions followed in wicca, although essentially following the same principles do vary not only from coven to coven but also vary over time within the same coven. Boundaries amongst traditions are loosely drawn with very few covens failing to develop or evolve their ritual and practices. The narratives likewise follow the same principles but again vary. No one can say one coven is better than another in terms of its adherence to what is or may be considered "core" wicca. (Gardnerian Wicca) named after the great Wizard Gerald Gardner. (1884 - 1964) and the pre-eminent modern Witch Doreen Valiente (1922 – 1999). Some people view wicca as "witchcraft" lite. Well this view is rather misleading as wicca simply is not witchcraft. Some even feel that wicca uses benign witchcraft. Well what we feel in our group is that if that is the case then they are witches in the very truest sense of the word as much as practitioners of non benign witchcraft would be.
